The Amber Grill restaurant is searching for hard-working, friendly, and outgoing customer service professionals who have a passion for food and beverage to join our team. This job will appeal to individuals who are good at multi-tasking, interacting with patrons, and who enjoy contributing to a positive work environment in one of Stevens Point's most popular restaurants.

Our restaurant servers serve food and beverage to local residents and hotel patrons who visit the Amber Grill restaurant.  Service areas include the Amber Grill restaurant, Amber Grill Bar, Amber Grill Patio, and Holiday Inn Room Service. The position reports to the restaurant Assistant Manager and Restaurant Manager.

Successful employment as a server can lead to supervisory positions, or other food and beverage or hospitality management positions.

Physical requirements:

  • Long work shifts are sometimes necessary.
  • Work: medium-use force of up to 50 pounds occasionally and/or force of 20 pounds frequently, or constantly lift, push, pull or miscellaneous moving of objects.
  • Ability to stand for the entire shift.

Mental Requirements:

  • You must be able to clearly express ideas and information.
  • Must be able to make quick decisions.
  • Must be able to work well under pressure.
  • Must have the ability to listen effectively, understand and clarify patron concerns and issues presented by co-workers and guests.
  • Must be able to work with and understand basic mathematical calculations and financial data and information.
  • Must be able to maintain calm and objectivity under pressure.

What you will be doing

  • Approach guest encounters in a friendly and service-oriented attitude.
  • Meet the attendance requirements, including report as scheduled for work shifts, which will change with the needs of the hotel.
  • Maintain high grooming and personal appearance standards, which includes wearing the correct uniform and nametag while on duty.
  • Comply at all times with the rules and regulations of Aimbridge Hospitality to encourage safe and efficient work operations.
  • Comply with requirements for the position including certification to serve alcohol, safety, etc.
  • Be fully familiar with the menus and the specials in the restaurant.
  • Serve guests all drinks and food orders in a warm, sympathetic, polite and professional manner.
  • Clear, clean and prepare tables as necessary.
  • Be familiar with the operation of the point of sales system (currently Micros).
  • Complete cashier functions of properly closing checks, and completing daily shift work to close shift. 
  • Carry out the duties of opening and closing and other extra duties, in accordance with the allocation of the rotation of the stations.
  • Make sure the tables and stations for the waiters are stocked, crisp and clean.
  • Complete any other tasks as assigned by department managers.
